2012 Seattle Stair Climb

Since 2007, teams of fire fighters from the Boise Fire Department have traveled to Seattle for the Annual Leukemia Lymphoma Society Scott Fire Fighter Stair Climb. This years team was made up 19 fire fighters, with 7 of our fire fighters finishing in the top 100 . The group from Boise this year finished 6th in the team competition led by Kyle Rajsich (13:47), Matt Lutz (14:11) and Roy Mitchell (14:14), first time climbers Peter DeVore (15:11) and our Department Doctor, Rob Hilvers (15:22),timed in impressively for their inaugural event. Even more impressive than our team times and personal records was our teams ability to fund raise. Boise Fire Fighters raised $27,290 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society placing them 3rd overall in Team fundraising. Richard Brown (1st), $10,860, Matt Lutz (55th) $2502.85 and Don Gifford (101st) $1774.35. Fire fighters participating in the event must wear full fire fighter protective equipment including breathing air from their self contained breathing apparatus and climb 69 stories (1311 steps) and gain 788 feet of vertical elevation in the Columbia Building in downtown Seattle, Washington.
